Target background:
Hungtinton’s disease (HD) is an inherited neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the expression of an expanded polyglutamine tract in the protein huntingtin.HIP1 (huntingtin interacting protein 1) binds to normal huntingtin but this interaction is lost in HD.HIP1 also binds to components of clathrin-coated pits and vesicles and is a marker of clathrin-coated membranes.HIP1 expression levels are altered in several types of cancer.

1.-Engqvist-Goldstein AE - An actin-binding protein of the Sla2/Huntingtin interacting protein 1 family is a novel component of clathrin-coated pits and vesicles.
2.-Kalchman MA - HIP1, a human homologue of S. cerevisiae Sla2p, interacts with membrane-associated huntingtin in the brain.
3.-Rao DS - Huntingtin-interacting protein 1 is overexpressed in prostate and colon cancer and is critical for cellular survival.
Storage:
Antibodies diluted in glycerol can be kept at 4ºC for up to 2 months and should be kept at -20ºC for long-term storage (1 year). For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. After the maximum long-term storage period (1 year -20ºC or 2 months 4ºC) antibodies should be tested in your assay with a standard sample to verify if you have noticed any decrease in their efficacy.
